The first match of the Test series between Bangladesh and South Africa has started at Mirpur Sherebangla Stadium.
The students claim that in the previous test series, they got a chance to watch the game without tickets. But this time the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has closed that opportunity. They chanted 'BCB fake' and demanded ticket-free entry to watch the game.
Army personnel on the spot were forced to evacuate the students. An army officer told the students on the microphone that there is no instruction from BCB to watch the game without tickets. If you want to buy tickets and watch the game, you have to collect the tickets from the ticket booth. While BPL or domestic tournaments are allowed to watch matches without tickets, international matches do not have that facility.
The students who took part in the protest expressed their anger and said that every time they get a chance to watch the test series for free, they came with the same expectation this time as well. BCB later decided to offer east gallery tickets at half price to deal with the situation.
Meanwhile, the attendance of students at the stadium increased due to the incident of distribution of 100 free tickets by mistake in the morning. Besides, some volunteers were detained when they tried to enter the students without tickets.
A BCB official said that the law and order forces are taking action in this regard and the matter is under their surveillance.
